Warehouse labels are used to increase the accuracy of inventory records.
Warehouse Label Applications:
The four most common types of labels used in a warehouse include:
- Racking Labels
- Pallet Labels
- Carton End Labels
- Shipping Labels
Warehouse Label Quantity Ranges:
With the exception of shipping labels, most racking, pallet and carton end labels are printed using digital technologies so your minimum order quantity can be very low. Warehouse labels that are custom printed require larger order sizes typically over 1,000 labels to be cost effective.
Warehouse Labels Sizes, Shapes and Finishing:
Warehouse labels are typically square or rectangular in shape. However we have hundreds of different shapes and sizes available. Depending on the warehouse environment shipping labels can be delivered in rolls and sheets for hand and machine applications.
Shipping Label Ink & Printed Limitations:
Most shipping labels are printed via laser printers, thermal transfer and direct thermal printers. Because of the roller pressure and extreme heat created a laser label must be printed with heat resistant inks, a lay flat liner and stripped edges to eliminate glue seepage. Thermal and direct thermal printers require the correct thermal papers. A direct thermal printer does not need a thermal ribbon, but regular thermal printers use ribbons and special paper stocks that are receptive to the ribbons ink type. Common inks used by thermal printers are wax, wax/resin and resin.
Warehouse Label Materials:
Warehouse label materials can be vary depending on the product being shipped and the harshness of the environment. Some common material are listed here:
TransPrint™ GP Thermal Transfer Paper Labels
- A bright white topcoated facestock with a permanent acrylic adhesive. Great for corrugated, metal and plastic surfaces.
- Stronger, more tear resistant, better opacity and compatible with a wider range of ribbons than most general purpose labels.
- A premium wax or midrange wax/resin is recommended (see the Black Rhino™ ribbon)
- Not recommended for outdoor applications. Exposure to precipitation, UV rays and excessive heat/cold will degrade the material.
- Note: Non-Perf 4" x 6", 4" x 4", 4" x 3", and 3" x 5" are run with an auto apply die, and can be used for print/apply applications.
TransPrint™ GP TT COLOR Paper Labels
- An ultra-smooth facestock floodcoated to match PMS specifications; colors tested and approved for bar code scanability.
- The general purpose permanent acrylic adhesive is great for a variety of surfaces including: corrugated, metal and plastic.
- Stronger, more tear resistant, better opacity and compatible with a wider range of ribbons than most general purpose labels.
- A premium wax or midrange wax/resin is recommended (see the Black Rhino™ ribbon)
- Not recommended for outdoor applications. Exposure to precipitation, UV rays and excessive heat/cold will degrade the material.
Thermal Transfer Paper Tags
- A coated matte white 7 mil tag stock featuring notched sides to allow gap sensing by most standard and high-speed thermal transfer printers, and providing excellent strength, printability and smudge resistance.
- A premium wax or midrange wax/resin is recommended (see the Black Rhino™ ribbon)
MagnaTak Thermal Transfer Paper Labels
- A smooth matte coated white facestock with a custom microsphere acrylic adhesive that provides strong initial tack while maintaining the ability to be cleanly removed and/or repositioned without leaving residual adhesive or label material.
- Stronger, more tear resistant, better opacity and compatible with a wider range of ribbons than most general purpose labels.
- A premium wax or midrange wax/resin is recommended (see the Black Rhino™ ribbon)
- Not recommended for outdoor applications. Exposure to precipitation, UV rays and excessive heat/cold will degrade the material.
MaxTran™ Polyester Thermal Transfer Labels
- A durable 2 mil white polyester topcoated facestock that features a highly aggressive permanent adhesive, and is suitable for a variety of surfaces and applications. UL/CUL recognized for various applications involving potential contaminants.
- A premium wax or midrange wax/resin is recommended (see the Black Rhino™ ribbon)
- Ideal for manufacturing, automotive, industrial and other harsh environment applications requiring superior durability.
PolyUltra™ Thermal Transfer Labels
- A matte white 3.8 mil polyolefin-based material topcoated for standard and high-speed printers, featuring a high-performance aggressive permanent adhesive that can withstand a wide range of temperature cycles and other adverse conditions.
- Outperforms many variations of Kimdura® for adhesion, durability, longevity, chemical and UV resistance.
- A premium wax or midrange wax/resin is recommended (see the Black Rhino™ ribbon)
- Ideal for permanent shelf marking, large-format labels, or other applications requiring Kimdura® specs.
Kimdura® Thermal Transfer Labels
- A 3.7 mil white Kimdura® film topcoated for thermal transfer or dot matrix printers, and features a permanent acrylic adhesive that offers excellent initial tack and strong adhesion to a variety of surfaces.
- Outperforms many variations of Kimdura® for adhesion, durability, longevity, chemical and UV resistance.
- A midrange wax/resin or premium resin is recommended (see the Black Rhino™ ribbon)
- Ideal for applications requiring scuff and abrasion resistance or other outdoor applications.
P99 Thermal Transfer Labels
- A 3.8 mil matte white polyolefin-based material topcoated for standard and high-speed printers, and features a specially formulated, high-strength adhesive that is removable from low-energy surfaces such as plastics.
- A premium wax or midrange wax/resin is recommended (see the Black Rhino™ ribbon)
- Ideal for returnable container labeling or other applications that require durability, quick adhesion and clean removability from low energy surfaces such as plastics.
DirectPrint™ Direct Thermal VL Paper Labels
- A bright white ultra smooth direct thermal paper facestock that produces high-contrast black visible light images, and features a special topcoat to protect against abrasion and moisture with a permanent adhesive.
- Ideal for applications requiring a high level of abrasion and moisture resistance.
